Breaking News

The new baby finally has a name.....Andrew Thomas. I think he will be called Drew. I found this out on my husband's Facebook page. Apparently, you really can find everything online.

Meet my nephew

I'd give you guys a name, but he doesn't have one yet : ).

He came in at a whopping 8 pounds, 11 ounces, 20.5 inches long and was born at 11:56 this morning.

He is absolutely precious and we already love him! I cannot wait to see what his little personality is like. He was already doing a lot of talking...I think he and Aunt KK will have lots of long chats.

At Least One Room is Done...

This past weekend we moved into our new house. Moving has been an stressful interesting exprience for me. I love our new house, though. So far we are adjusting much better than the dogs, who happen to be the world's biggest wusses. We have an alarm that goes off when the door opens and you would think someone is administering an electric shock to them each time. Surely, they will get over this, right?

The only room that is together and unpacked is ironically our kitchen. (Thanks so much Mom, Al, Mrs. F and Mary Ann!) You know how I am such a huge cook and all. I find myself gravitating here because it is orderly and put together, so maybe there is hope for me.

I especially love that we have a bar. Our parents were sweet enough to get us barstools for our housewarming gift! And a special thanks to my brother-in-law for putting them together.

At our old house the finishes are all brushed nickel. Here they are oil rubbed bronze. I am just going to embrace that our accessories don't match. They are close enough to stainless steel....

My sister, the organizing extraordinaire, came over and absolutely rocked my cabinets and pantry. Also, I appear to have every serving piece known to man.

I also have a penchant for overbuying on cleaning supplies. It is like a little general store in my laundry room.

I hope to post more room pics soon...maybe that will motivate me to actually unpack some boxes! XOXO!

This is apparently becoming a video blog

Every Sunday I look forward to the secrets that are posted on the Post Secret blog. There is something fascinating to me about reading someone's deepest, darkest secrets. I think it is the same reason I love reality TV.

Anyway, today he posted a video about a book that is coming out based on the blog, 1000 Awesome Things. I wasn't familiar with the blog until today, but I loved the video...kind of reminds you of the little things in life that we take for granted. Enjoy!

Places to Visit

My life has changed ever since I discovered Google Reader. It is like the best invention ever. I get to see all my favorite blogs all at once. So, I decided to take you on a tour of some places you guys should go visit today.

First, check out MaddyCakes Muse. She has a whole feature today on umbrellas for parties. Is this not the coolest?

I have always had a party crush on Little Ant Design. She has a whole feature on a Harry Potter party that she threw that is absolutely amazing. (This pic is actually from Hostess with the Mostess...you should check out that party, too.) I really, really want to be invited to a party like this. Can someone throw one?

Another favorite is iDiY. She has shared these A-mazing printable invitations with us. Aren't we lucky?? I love them all.

And I fell in love yesterday with these cake ball cakes featured on Simply Creative Insanity. You must check out the football cake she features. Each cake is made by Austin Cake Ball. I see a trip to Austin in my future.

Lastly, is a sewing project that I think I can actually take on that was featured on The Party Dress. All you need is a piece of fabric and pinking shears (translation, fancy scissors).

Driller Fever and Sushi

If you guys haven't been to the new Tulsa Drillers ballpark, you are sooo missing out! I am pretty much a regular now...I am on night 2. Not too shabby considering I haven't watched a sporting event in decades. (Okay, maybe just a few years.) And to be completely honest, I really didn't even watch the two games I have been to....it is much more fun to hang out with the girls!

Saturday night I did something I have never done before - make sushi. I have eaten it. A lot. And it is so much easier to make than you would think. (Easy for me to say...I only rolled the items up.) Megan had all of the ingredients, including the best filler in sushi ever -- cream cheese.

This was my big attempt to get a money shot. And that is why I am not a photographer.

My favorite roll is the candy roll (minus avacado, add cream cheese) at In the Raw, so I tried to recreate my own - shrimp, crab, cream cheese. And, if I do say so myself, it totally rocked. I will tell you this, if I could do it anyone can. I may even try it on my own.

The classes are totally worth the normal pricetag of around $30-$45 a session, but I love to save a buck and be entertained. (That is why I am a Target regular!) And I am glad I can share this with you so you can try out the facility. I promise you will love it-- Tommy even cooked something, which is a small miracle in itself.

I have been fortunate enough to be a guest judge for Catherine's Iron Chef summer camp session. (Though I don't cook, I do eat out...a lot. So I am totally qualified to be a food judge.) And the kid's food was awesome.

I have also taken an adult class and Tommy and I had a blast. I haven't been there in awhile, but after seeing the adult menu this month, I am definitely going to be attending. Here are my top picks. I just need to decide which one...

Pirate's Booty

My nephew got a new big boy room in anticipation of his new little brother. My sister-in-law got him a big boy bed and new bedding for this room. It is from Pottery Barn and is really, really cute.

So Aunt Cake had to get him something for his big boy room. My friend Betsy made this stool (see her and her sister's portfolio here) and it turned out even better than I could imagine!! It is absolutely adorable and I know he is just going to love it! I mean is it not perfect????

He is getting to be such a big boy.
I cannot believe he is already two!
